The Lost Island
A typographic illustrated story inspired by Guillaume Apollinaire's calligrammes — visual poems where the arrangement of letters on the page carries as much meaning as the words themselves. Apollinaire worked with a typewriter and a printing press. I wanted to see what calligrammes would look like with digital tools.
The result is a short story told through typographic compositions where the letterforms become the landscape — water, islands, forests, darkness. The text and the image are the same thing.
